International Design Conference in Aspen: The First Decade
A 16mm. sponsored film that looks back at the first ten years of the International Design Conference in Aspen (IDCA). Walter Paepcke (1896–1960) founded the IDCA. He sought to provide a forum for discussion on design, “where the human spirit can flourish.” Paepcke was a longtime executive of the Chicago-based Container Corporation of America, and with help from his wife Elizabeth, was instrumental in creating the New Bauhaus in Chicago and developing Aspen, Colorado, into a winter resort and cultural center.
